Lilly's nursery is coming together. We just finished the mobile and now it seems almost complete.
The Crib
From the get go, I knew I had to replicate a yellow crib I had seen online. So when we found a blue linden crib on sale it was ours! When we told the sales lady that we we're going to paint it yellow, I'm pretty sure she didn't want to sell it to us anymore. At any rate, it was ours and we picked out paint chips, observed them in all lights of the day against the wall color and finally settled on the perfect yellow. We took the crib down to the shop and sprayed it and it didn't quite seem like the yellow was perfect anymore. We decided it was probably poor light and to let it dry and bring it home. So that's what we did and it was worse! The paint was practically glowing! So Jeff tried stripping it, which turned into a mess and a lot of sanding, we finally got it ready for try number two. We picked an off the shelf spray paint this go around and it turned out pretty great!
Bedding
Thank goodness for people with skills, because "hey, let's make baby bedding, even if you don't know how to sew." I found the floral sheet set and new I wanted baby bedding made out of it. Aunt Louise and Melissa we're down right before the Fourth of July and helped pick out coordinating fabric.
Bird Mobile
Another example of seeing something, but lacking in skills. I found the pattern, sewed 1 1/2 birds and mom sewed the rest - but hey, someone had to stuff them while she sewed. Jeff, Lilly and I picked the sticks up from the backyard. We hot glued those babies on, and Jeff did the hard part of making sure everything balanced and hanging them!
Letters
Jeff cut the letters out and I mod-podged some scrap book paper on them. Funny story - we started handing them right before Lilly's blessing, but didn't quite get it finished before Sunday. We had started in the middle to make sure everything was centered and evenly spaced (ok, Jeff did), we got three letters hung before we quit...I-L-L. We love you baby girl.
She had to have this...
Her mom said so. It's only right she have somewhere to put her dirty clothes.
